Dr. Cathy Haut is employed at Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware as the Director of Nursing Research and Evidence Based Practice. She has been a nurse for more than 35 years and is certified as a pediatric nurse practitioner with experience working in both primary and acute/critical care. She obtained both her MS and DNP from the University of Maryland School of Nursing and previously was program director for the University of MD primary and acute care PNP graduate programs. Cathy has authored over 60 publications on many clinical and professional topics and is co-editor of two pediatric nursing textbooks, the Lippincott Review Book for Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioners and Cases in Pediatric Acute Care: Strengthening Clinical Decision Making. She has experience as a dissertation and DNP team member and chair and has participated in many research and quality improvement projects. Her areas of interest include pediatric palliative care, pediatric critical care and aspects of mentorship in leadership. She has spoken frequently at national conferences, including the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) annual conference and the American Association of Critical Care Nurses National Teaching Institute. She is a past president of NAPNAP and currently serves as the president of the NAPNAP foundation board. She has interest in many different clinical areas of pediatric nursing, and enjoys challenging nurses to change their practice through research and evidence-based practice projects.
